Another day in the saddle and we arrived in the surprisingly beautiful little town of Phang-Nga. We set off from Krabi early morning but found the going hard at the start, our saddles felt like someone had swapped them for wood and our leg muscles started burning after the first 1km. It also started to rain whilst we had stopped for a delicious breakfast, and I am not just talking about 'rain' but proper Thailand 'RAIN'! We waited until the rain had formed what I can only describe as 'English rain', persistent drizzle then we donned our waterproofs and set off.

Richard's bike in the heavy rain After what seemed like hours but in fact was only 2 we stopped for a break, by this time the rain had dissipated and I wanted to get out of my soaked trainers and into flip-flops so that my feet could dry. As we sat for coffee we looked at how far we had come and was deflated to learn that what felt like 40km was only 26km; it was then that I knew that the day would be a long one. After we left the main highway and branched out onto one of the more quieter roads we started to pick up speed again and as we enjoyed the scenery before us the cycling started to feel a little easier.

When we turned off the road into the route into  Phang-Nga we were greeted by the most beautiful scenery that I have ever seen here in Thailand. Phang-Nga is situated between two mountain ranges, but here I am talking about the craggy limestone mountains that are found here, they are very very high and covered in jungle. The Chang Mountain was particularly majestic, after all the rain a waterfall had formed cascading down the mountain and into a lily pond next to the road.

James Bond IslandThe district of Phang-Nga is home to the Similan Islands, Khaolak National Park and the famous landmark of the 'James Bond Island', this is a very pretty part of Thailand.
