Nazri playing with his food We said farewell to our friends on the Perhentians on Monday after a very busy season. Mel decided for her last night, which happened to be our last night too, to have a BBQ on the beach and the wonderful staff at Alu Alu laid out a very good spread of food and built a fire. Not sure that the fire was necessary for warmth but it certainly did add to the atmosphere. The fire was watched over by the braai king himself Mr Nic Hayes otherwise known as the 'squeaky freediver'. You know those shoes that some kids walk around in that squeak when they put pressure on the heel? Well, we reckon that one of those found its way into his ear and we have video and audio proof of this fact. Anyway Nic managed to feed the fire for most of the night, still do not know where all the fire wood came from though...I wonder if they are missing any bungalows from the resort next door??

We left the Island Tuesday afternoon, with me still being slightly worse for wear from a little too much party juice from the night before.....and trying to fathom out why my hamstrings ached?
Armed with bikes, trailers and all our worldly belongings we headed for Kota Bharu, and here we still are waiting for our passports to arrive.
I am now becoming a familiar sight at the post office here. We had to post most of our belongings off to Phuket which worked out to be 60kg of clothes, dive stuff, documents and other bits that just accumulate over time. The post lady was most amused by the amount of stuff we posted on to Thailand, I however was not amused by the cost of this.  Now I start to visit her twice a day to check whether our passports have arrived, as soon as they do then we are on the train to Hat Yai.

Our time in Malaysia has been fantastic, it is great to have been part of the happening freediving scene and as we are leaving, AIDA Malaysia is being born. We hope to be back soon and maybe we can organise a nice competition for some of our freediver friends to achieve some AIDA Malaysia freediving National Records. Both Richard and I are very excited to be returning to Thailand for the next season, and its nice to know that we will be back in KL from time to time to do more pool courses there and meet up with our friends.

For now though we are all set for our next epic bike journey from Hat Yai to Phuket. We have new chains and I have new handlebar grips, ergonomic grips don't you know ;) Maybe they will help with the hills that I know that we will have to climb going to Trang. Richard has bought a new cycle top to replace his thread bare 40 year old one, the new top is bright red. Does he not realise that now he will clash with my pink bike! He will just have to cycle a 10m behind me, that way we won't colour clash.
